Did you know, the temperature at which you wash your clothes can impact the climate?
For a very long time, I was using my washing machine at the default water temperature of 30 degrees, and one fine morning I realized that if I select the normal temperature mode, I end up saving 1 minute on the washing machine’s running time.
It was then that I remembered reading somewhere that washing your clothes at lower temperatures can help the environment. Further googling revealed that washing machines use co2 intensive electricity to heat up cold water and the temperature at which you wash clothes can impact the environment.
It does not matter if once a month or so you use a 60 degree or a 90 degree wash for stuff that requires intensive treatment like your curtains and bed sheets, but if you use your washing machine everyday, think of all the energy you could save and the harmful emissions you can prevent by a simple thoughtful act.
