House That!
Walls Let your walls do some talking

Every wall in your house has a story to tell. Like every other thing in your house, your wall too reflects your style statement. So it is important that you make sure that you keep the walls in mind while planning your home décor - so that they get some attention too. So how do you create a striking rapport with the wall and your interiors and ensure a well-balanced co-ordination when you are displaying your art?

Don’t clutter
You don’t have to hang all the pictures or art pieces in one room. By crowding them, you will achieve no visual impact nor will it get appreciative glances. So spread them out to maintain an aesthetic balance and give each wall something to say.

Theme for each wall
Group the displays that share a common theme and place on one wall together. For instance, family photos can be together. Contemporary paintings can put in one place. Then if Nature is the theme, you could have them complementing another wall. Just use your imagination to create a unique look.

Choose the right frame
A picture can lose its appeal with a mismatched frame. Imagine a beautiful ethnic painting with a tacky frame? Besides sticking out like a sore thumb, wouldn’t it get disapproving looks?

Things to remember when you’re displaying art
  • Hang art at eye level, no matter how high your walls are
  • Make sure they match the interiors, else they will draw attention for all the wrong reasons
  • The displays should never be wider than the furnishings that they are fixed over, not too small either
  • Mirrors create space in small rooms, but beware of what is being reflected
