bheemeswari Bheemeshwari - The Angler’s paradise

As you wind through the thickly wooded roads en route your destination, you’ll be transported into a picture perfect land that could make your holiday one-of-a-kind.

Welcome to Bheemeshwari – a popular camping site, known the world over as home to the mighty 'Mahseer' - the finest & the largest tropical sporting fish known to man. In fact, every year, scores of enthusiastic anglers - both professional and amateur - throng here to try their luck at fishing.

A 100 km drive from Bangalore, Bheemeshwari is a small sleepy town lying between the Shivanasamudra falls and Mekedatu falls, on the Cauvery river in Mandya district of Karnataka. So, if you’re looking for a weekend getaway that’s packed with action and adventure, Bheemeshwari could be just the place for you.

While the banks of the River Cauvery, is a perfect place for anglers to indulge in some serious fishing, the thick vegetation around provides nature and wildlife enthusiasts a lot of reasons to cheer about.

The lush natural habitat formed by thick forests attracts several animals here. So you could treat your eyes to animals like elephants, wild boars, monkeys, jackals, crocodiles, otters and leopards; as well as catch a glimpse of a variety of water birds like herons, ibis, cormorants and kingfisher.

While you’re here, you can visit the twin falls of Barachukki and Gaganachukki formed by the sparkling blue waters of Cauvery which fall off the Deccan Plateau after winding through rocks and ravines. A short distance away is yet another set of falls called Mekedatu (Goat's Leap).

A holiday at Bheemeshwari has lots in store to get your adrenaline pumping. Nature treks into the wilderness, coracle rides, kayaking, outdoor camping, amateur fishing and professional angling are just some of them.
